East Hampton's legislative power is vested in a Town Board, which consists of five members, including the Town Supervisor, who is the presiding member and chief fiscal officer of the Town, elected for a term of two years. The four other members of the Town Board are elected to four-year terms. The Town Board members are elected, and there are no limitations to the number of terms which they may serve.
The Town Board, as a whole, serves as the Town's finance board, and is responsible for authorizing all material financial transactions, such as operating and capital budgets and bonded debt.
